- Spent three years playing at Dundee United F.C learning under Walter Smith and Jim Mclean
- Spent four years at the professional youth level playing with Celtic F.C under coaches Pat Gardner and Liam Brady (Current head Arsenal youth team coach)
- Had playing spells with Dundee F.C and Brechin City under Jim Duffy (formerly head youth team coach at Chelsea)
- Coached in Scotland with Dundee F.C and Brechin City for over two years
- Director of coaching with San Clemente United since 2006
Coaching accomplishments and credentials
- Joined the varsity coaching staff at San Clemente High School 2011 for the play-offs winning C.I.F, State Finals in 2011, winning CIF in 2013 and becoming no.1 ranked team in California, no.2 in the nation all for the first time in the schools history
- J.V boys coach of San Clemente high school 2009, 2011 and 2012, 2013 -Undefeated 26 game season in 2011, Undefeated 21 game season in 2013, Winners of Capo Valley Tournament, South Torrance Tournament, Zack Butcher Memorial and South Coast League all four seasons.
- Won league and tournament titles at various levels at club in the U.S
- Developed and assisted in placing several players at the collegiate level including L.M.U, Cal Poly, S.M.U, Point Loma, San Fran State, S.F.U, Santa Cruz
- Holds coaching licences in Scotland and the U.S
- Has coached players at the international youth level in Scotland and the U.S.
- Sent players over to Europe for professional trials and has contacts with coaches and scouts with the following professional clubs in the U.K (Celtic, Burnley, Fulham, Manchester United, Swansea, Blackburn, Dundee United, Dundee)
- Developed captains of Varsity at San Clemente, Santa Margarita, Laguna Beach, Edison, Tesoro, Je Serra
- Developed the player who holds the goal-scoring record at San Clemente (Andy Martinez 69 goals),
- Developed Roger Downes, who won L.A Times Player of the year and was voted M.V.P for the entire C.I.F, collegiate freshman year of the award and captained LMU to their first league title 2010
Academic Achievements
- Has a B.A.C.C degree with distinction from Dundee University in accountancy
- Has a post graduate degree in I.T from Abertay University
- Is professionally qualified in accountancy, management and taxation (A.C.C.A)
Coaching Philosophy
Chris believes in technical training at the introductory age, developing skills combined with the small sided games development model from the S.F.A and Horst Wein which encourages intelligent soccer amongst youth players. Professionalism at all levels with regards standards should always be adhered to.
Personal details
Chris comes from a family with a strong background in professional soccer with his dad an grandad both being professional players and his brothers both working as coaches with professional clubs in Scotland.
Chris resides with his wife and two kids, Matthew and Francesca in San Clemente and has lived there for the past eight years
